The Tanah Merah, Padang Bai Tour
After breakfast, we take you to Pejeng to see the world's oldest and largest bronze drum. The moon of Pejeng which is kept in a shrine in Penataran Sasih temple can be considered as the most remarkable antiquities in Bali. This bronze drum is a sacred relic for the Balinese, an artifact for the archeologist, and a curiosity for the tourists. The older generations of Balinese invented various myths around the drum. Some say that it is one of the subangs (ear-plugs) of the moon, while other says that it is a sasih, the "moon" itself.
You will then continue to Klungkung town to see the Museum of Bali's most famous living artist, Nyoman Gunarsa. His paintings are based on Balinese folklore, Hindu Dharma legend and arts, but his painting styles are uniquely his. Nyoman's works explore the richness of Balinese culture with its vibrant dances and music, traditional ceremonies and luscious environment, influencing many young artists in Bali and Indonesia.
Next you will visit the extraordinary phenomenon, The Goa Lawah Temple whose walls literally vibrate with thousands of bats, their bodies packed so close together that the upper surface of the cave resembles undulating mud. Rumor has it that the Goa Lawah Temple has an underground river that runs all the way up to the Besakih Temple.
After the Goa Lawah Temple it is time for a swim at the tropical Laguna close to Padang Bai. You will arrive at the Padang Bai harbor where a traditional Balinese boat will take you to the White Beach Laguna. At the White Beach Laguna you will have plenty of time to explore the amazing underwater life and relax on the beach. For lunch you will have a barbecue on the beach with all kind of delicious food.
After your delicious lunch on the White Beach Laguna the boat will take you back to Padang Bai harbor where we will have a cup of coffee on one of the café's in the Padang Bai harbor. From the café you can see the busy life of the Balinese fishermen or you might be interested in looking at what the small shops can offer.
When you are done drinking your coffee or shopping it is time to head back to Tanah Merah, at the time you arrive at Tanah Merah the sun is just about to set and, from the Gardenia Pool you will have an excellent view of the sunset.
