Mount Agung

If you feel up for it the ultimate challenge in Bali is climbing the 3142 meters high Mount Agung also known as Gunung Agung. Bali's highest and most revered mountain.

We will start at Pura Besakih on the south-west side of the mountain, where we will meet up with our guide and walk through the route and important safety instructions.

The Mount Agung climb is famous for the impressive view at the top. To be able to reach the top in time for sunrise we have to get up during the night and start the climb. Don't worry about visibility, we will have a bit of light from the moon and with the help of flashlights everybody should be able to see where they walk.

It takes approximately 5 hours from the starting point at Pura Besakih to reach the top of Mount Agung. During the climb there will be plenty of opportunity for resting and the guide will follow your flow.

When you finally reach the top of Mount Agung you will feel like the king of the world, the beautiful sunrise will calm you down after the climb. At the top you will be able to see almost all of Bali and even as far as to Lombok.

Gunung Agung is not a mountain to climb for everybody. Experts claim that the level of difficulty is about the same as on Kilimanjaro in East Africa.
